Today, I can proudly present my finished New York Beauty Medallion quilt. I named it for the centre which consists of four New York Beauty blocks. They are paper pieced and were fun to make—in retrospective. Sewing curves isn’t my favourite thing to do but I am always proud when I managed.
I set this centre piece on point to add some excitement and filled the white space with appliquéd leaves.
Next round are flying geese. I inverted the blocks, which means that not the background is white but the geese. And to avoid total chaos, I have given each goose a blue and a green side for background. Thus, you can easily recognize the secondary pattern of two sawtooth-y borders—a green one and then a blue.
The last round are orange peels, every single one on a different background which I love very much. And to add some more fruit, I did four pineapple blocks for the corners.
I hand quilted it, doing mostly outline quilting. Here are some details:
